FAQs

How is Reducol® different from other plant sterol and stanol products on the market?

Reducol® is a unique patented combination of non-GMO, coniferous sourced, plant sterols and stanols which have been clinically proven to lower LDL cholesterol by up to 15%. Reducol® combines the advantages of both sterols and stanols to provide better overall efficacy (link to Resources).

The Reducol® brand is supported by a portfolio of composition and uses intellectual property that gives our customers competitive advantages in formulating a broad range of food and supplement products.

How should Reducol® be consumed?

Because of the mechanism of action (inhibition of cholesterol absorption from the small intestine), Reducol® should be taken with the larger meals of the day. Various research studies suggest that dosing twice a day may be as effective as 3 times a day.

Does Reducol® have any effects beyond LDL cholesterol lowering?

No, Reducol® has no effect on other blood lipid parameters including HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides.

How does Reducol® compare with other ingredients that target cholesterol lowering?

Foods that have been fortified with certain functional ingredients have been shown to have cholesterol-lowering effects. The most notable ingredients targeting these effects are plant sterols and stanols, oat fiber, and soya protein. To date, plant sterols and stanols remain unsurpassed in their efficacy in lowering LDL cholesterol. Larger intakes of soya protein (25 g / day) are needed to lower LDL cholesterol. Reducol® offers an efficient and convenient way to formulate a broad range of cholesterol lowering foods.

Are there any differences in the efficacy of Reducol® in the different formats that it is sold in (free vs. esterified)?

In a recent study, Reducol® ester (when tested in softgel form) showed similar efficacy compared to that seen with Reducol® Original Powder in previous clinical studies.

What is the recommended dose of Reducol®?

Nearly all clinical trials with Reducol® have been done in the range of 1.5 to 2.0 g/day (link to Research). Forbes recommends a dose of 1.8 g / day.

Is Reducol® Kosher and Halal Certified?

Yes, all Reducol® products are Kosher and Halal certified.

What products can Reducol® be incorporated into?
